John Lucas

John Lucas is vice president, New Generation for Arizona Public Service (APS). Based in Phoenix, APS is Arizona’s largest energy provider and serves approximately 1.4 million homes and businesses across the state.

In his position, Lucas is responsible for building the strategy for future generation including the development and construction of renewable energy, energy storage and gas generation to meet increasing demand. Prior to this role, Lucas was responsible for all facets of the company’s generation (non-nuclear) operations, maintenance, engineering and construction at nine facilities in Arizona and New Mexico as well as the company's utility-scale renewable and energy storage and microgrid sites. 

Lucas has more than 39 years of experience in the power generation and energy delivery business. Lucas held general manager roles in both engineering and operations within Generation before becoming vice president.

Lucas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys traveling with his wife, Teresa.
