James Bruzzi and the earth have a mutual admiration thing going.
The earth provides Bruzzi with his passion – the coffee bean. In return, Bruzzi, the 24-year-old owner of Mountain View Coffee Company, is working to make his growing business as environmentally-friendly as possible. This includes signing up for APS’ Green Choice program.
Through the Green Choice program, Bruzzi pays a small premium to ensure a portion
of the energy needs for his three Mountain View Coffee locations comes from
renewable energy sources. According to Bruzzi, Green Choice is an important part of
his company’s environmental efforts, which also include only purchasing fair trade
coffee beans and using organic ingredients.
“I feel like using and promoting renewable energy is part of being a responsible
businessperson,” Bruzzi said. “I won’t cut corners with quality with the ingredients we use. I feel the same way about the electricity that powers my businesses.”
Green Choice is an important element in APS’ efforts to expand its use of clean energy technologies throughout Arizona. APS is working hard to have 15 percent of its electricity come from renewable resources by 2025. This will include the Solana Generating Station, which, when built in 2011, will be one of the largest solar power plants in the world. A clear future vision is something APS and Mountain View Coffee have in common.
“Buying clean energy is part of the long-term approach I use when making business decisions,” said Bruzzi. “I’m not in this for the quick fix. Whether I’m buying the highest quality coffee beans or paying a little extra for renewable energy, I’m letting my customers know we’re going be here for the long haul. They appreciate that.” |
