Scholarship Award:
Five (5) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to local high school seniors.

The Palo Verde Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to deserving graduating seniors in the plant’s surrounding community. This is done with the goal of supporting and improving the community in which it operates, specifically by providing resources which help young adults in the community improve their opportunities and meet their educational goals.

Criteria:

Be a graduating senior at one of the following high schools: Buckeye Union, Tonopah Valley, Verrado, Wickenburg, Youngker or Estrella Foothills.

Enroll as a full-time student at an Arizona university, college, or trade school for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Have a high school academic cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher (non-weighted).

Show involvement in school activities, extracurricular activities and/or community service.

Deadline:

Submissions for the 2010-2011 scholarships must be received by Friday, April 2, 2010.

Process:

1. Complete the 2010-2011 Palo Verde Scholarship Application.

2. Attach one (1) Letter of Recommendation from a professional who can attest to the potential for success in academics and to the character of the applicant.

3. Attach an Official Transcript or Letter from a School Official, which verifies applicant’s GPA and academic record from the most recently completed semester.

4. Attach a separate sheet listing volunteer/community service, awards and honors, extracurricular activities (in and out of school), and any leadership positions.

5. Mail completed application, with all attachments to address provided on application. All packages must be received by Friday, April 2, 2010.

Upon receipt of all application packages and a formal review process, finalists will be notified by April 13, 2010, and scheduled to interview after school during the week of April 26 – April 30. Please prepare your schedule accordingly. Following the interviews, five (5) scholarship recipients will be chosen and notified by May 7, 2010.
