At Pinnacle West and APS, we believe our differences can often be our strengths. That’s why we’re committed to support diversity: in our workforce, in the vendors and business partners we work with and in the community. Diversity of culture and experiences are tangible assets that bring a flavor and newness to the table. We also believe the ideas and perspectives born of diversity will lead to the sustainable growth of our company and our communities.
At December 31, 2008, Pinnacle West employed approximately 7,500 people, including the employees of its subsidiaries. Of these employees, approximately 6,900 were employees of APS, including employees at jointly-owned generating facilities(approximately 3,300 employees) for which APS serves as the generating facility manager. Approximately 600 people were employed by Pinnacle West and its other subsidiaries.
We are committed to being an equal-employment and affirmative-action employer. We understand the value of diversity in our workforce and actively seek opportunities for incorporating diversity within our company. Pinnacle West strives to provide every employee an equal opportunity to succeed professionally. Our work environment is one wherein every employee is treated with dignity and respect. Decisions about employment, training, compensation and promotion are based on job-related qualifications.
Not only does our company prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, veteran's status, marital status, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability and any other legally protected basis, our policy explicitly prohibits sexual harassment or harassment of any nature in the workplace. Annual affirmative-action training is required of all leaders.
APS has dedicated corporate Affirmative Action/EEO Programs, that focus on workforce analysis, compliance, affirmative action, maintaining a harassment-free workplace, and training and education.
Pinnacle West's 2008 EEO Employer Information is show below (Note: this report does not include SunCor employees).
