Welcome to the 2005 Pinnacle West Capital Corporation Corporate Responsibility Report. This report aims to transparently communicate our environmental, health, safety and corporate sustainability goals and performance. 

For more than a century, our company has served Arizona and we plan to exceed customer expectations far into the future. Our employees live, work and play in the communities we serve. Numbering more than 6,000, our employees are not only the backbone of our company, but are also an integral part of the fabric of our communities.

We have a long history as a community and environmental leader and corporate partner. We take a long-term view of how we impact those communities. By working efficiently to remain economically and operationally healthy, we are able to proactively manage our current performance while planning for the future. Our community involvement is vitally important and is made possible by our economic success. We understand that the strength of our company parallels the strength of our state.

With this management philosophy in place and sound performance in economic and social-responsibility areas, environmental leadership can take on many forms. From using and promoting renewable energy, to practicing environmentally preferred purchasing and innovative climate change strategies — we believe we are poised for sustained excellence.

Previously, our reports have focused primarily on our major subsidiary, Arizona Public Service Company (APS). In this report, we begin the process of expanding our reporting to include our two other larger subsidiaries, SunCor Development Company and APS Energy Services. Information on SunCor and APS Energy Services is provided in their company profile, which can be accessed from the navigation tree on the left side of this page. 

The majority of information in the Environmental, Health & Safety Performance section of this report continues to be based on our largest subsidiary, Arizona Public Service Company.
