Our company is required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to report all releases of chemicals listed by the EPA through its Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) program from our coal-fired plants.
While TRI quantities reported by our company and other utilities are large, the majority of chemicals we report are in fact captured by pollution control equipment and are contained within coal ash or managed on site. Coal ash has many beneficial uses and we are working to use as much of that ash as possible in concrete or related products.
