John Hatfield

John Hatfield is vice president of communications for Arizona Public Service Company (APS) and its parent company Pinnacle West Capital Corporation. APS generates safe, reliable and affordable electricity for nearly 1.2 million Arizona customers and is among the nation’s top-rated electricity companies for reliability and customer satisfaction.

Hatfield’s responsibilities include reputation management, brand management, community affairs, corporate giving, strategic partnerships and employee communications.

Hatfield has a broad range of corporate, agency and political experience. He has held senior communication positions with Edison International, Exelon Corporation, GolinHarris and Burson-Marsteller. He has also served in senior communication and policy roles for numerous elected officials and political candidates. Hatfield is a member of the Arthur Page Society, a professional association for senior communicators.

Hatfield is chairman of the board of Homeward Bound, which creates pathways out of poverty for families ready to make a change, and the treasurer of the APS Foundation. He serves on the executive committee of the Endowment Board of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. He is an Honorary Commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base.

An Indianapolis native, Hatfield graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in politics. He is also a graduate of MIT’s Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives.
