Chuck Kharrl

Chuck Kharrl is vice president, site operations, and general plant manager at Palo Verde Generating Station for Arizona Public Service Company (APS). Based in Phoenix, APS is Arizona’s largest electric company and serves nearly 1.2 million customers across the state.

Kharrl is responsible for the operation of the three units at Palo Verde Generating Station–the nation’s largest power producer. He oversees operations, maintenance and maintenance projects, work management, chemistry, radiation protection and equipment reliability. Previously, Kharrl held several positions at Palo Verde, including unit operations manager and work management director. He joined APS in 2007 as a senior reactor operator.

Prior to joining APS, Kharrl served in the U.S. Navy on board a nuclear powered guided missile cruiser. He was also an operations unit supervisor at Florida Power and Light from 2004 to 2007 and worked at Detroit Edison from 1994 to 2004.

Kharrl graduated from Naval Nuclear Power School and received a Master of Business Administration from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
